Here is my quick little illustration for ‘wish’. Style influenced by my current PROW: Positive Representation Of Women project. Theme influenced by the end of summer, beginning of autumn. Autumn is my favourite time of year.
So this may not seem to fit the theme this week, but it does really, promise! I found it so difficult to find something to draw which fitted the prompt this week (hence the late update) and had several false starts, idea sketches all over the place. However I finally settled on this piece. The idea is that it represents the influence of nature on my art. It’s supposed to be a self-portrait of me, drawing while sitting on the Roman wall in Silchester. A bit different then normal, and a little bit more personal. Hope you like it. 🙂
Believe it or not, I have actually been drawing Illustration Friday pictures the last couple of Fridays, but just haven’t gotten round to uploading them. So busy with university, family etc. Coming up to the end of term, which is always ridiculously stressful!
This week however I’ve pulled myself together and scanned in my entry for this week, CULTIVATE!
Cultivate immediately made me thing of the farm that me and my family used to live on. When I was little I dreamed of living on a farm, and unlike most parents, my parents actually obliged, and we moved way out into the country onto this little farm. We didn’t have animals or anything, but my mum very firmly believes in gardening, and my dad, if possible, believes even more firmly in self sustainability, and both of them believe that it is healthy for children to learn to work and have chores. The result of this was that about a third of the land that went with the farm was turned into various vegetable gardens, greenhouse, huge strawberry patch etc. So yeah, that was the inspiration behind this peice.
Originally it was was going to be three seperate peices, however I decided once I’d finished the strawberry lady that they would look good all merged together.
